Dr. Tanisha Begay

A proud Shiprock, New Mexico native and lifelong advocate for the health, wellness, and success of her community. A 2017 graduate of Shiprock High School and former state champion basketball player, she went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Arizona State University, where she also graduated from the Barrett Honors Program. She later earned her Doctorate in Chiropractic and Master of Science in Functional Nutrition from Parker University.
Today, Dr. Begay is the owner and chiropractor of Hózhó Wellness and Chiropractic LLC in Shiprock, where she is dedicated to providing accessible chiropractic, wellness, and nutrition services to her community. Through her professional work and passion for youth, health, and athletics, she strives to inspire the next generation while giving back to the community that helped shape her.

Justin Pioche

An ‘Áshįįhí Diné’ who is born for the Bit'ahnii people and is the chef and owner of the Pioche Food Group along with his sister, Tia and mother, Janice Brown.

At an early age, his first experience of amazing food came from his grandmother Lorene. With a simple piece of hot frybread, and pea soup made from fresh produce planted in her garden, he was hooked. During his Senior year in high school, he placed 3rd at a national competition for cooking and went on to become a proud graduate of the Arizona Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, AZ.

With many mentors that include Chef Beau MacMillan, Kevin Binkley, Grant Achatz, Noah Sandoval, John Shields, Sean Sherman, and Rene Redzepi, Justin feels he has learned from some of the best. Possessing a passion that continues to grow along with his respect for his people's history and aims to learn as much as possible while maturing and developing his own style of cooking. Navajo food is definitely more than survival food to him. It is the essence for healing, beauty, and humility.

Justin is a 2023 James Beard Award Finalist for Best Chef of the Southwest (AZ, NM, NV, OK) and Chopped Champion from the Food Network.

Parade Route

Registration Information

All entries for the 113th Northern Navajo Fair Parade are officially filled. Thank you to everyone who registered and helped make this year’s parade lineup possible!

Parade Details & Guidelines

Parade will begin promptly at 7:00 AM Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Parade Line up will commence at 5:00 AM at Motor Pool/East Shiprock.
MUST have: Copy registration form to evidence registration. Numbers will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis! The first 20 spots are reserved.
All Entries will be judged in their respective categories: Attire, Appearance, Theme, and Originality.
Non-Motorized floats may consist of the following: wagons, walkers, marching bands. Motorized floats consist of a vehicle with a gas/ diesel powered engine. ONLY ONE VEHICLE will be considered a float, string of vehicles will be considered several floats.
DO NOT LOSE your assigned number. If you lose your number, you will be placed at the end of the parade route and forfeit your assigned space. No duplicates will be given out.
Entries must maintain a distance of no less than 20 feet and no more than 40 feet from the next float. (This prevents gaps)
Parade route is approximately 3 miles long. Entries are responsible for their own water and First Aid for their participants. Walkers plan for transportation from the finish line.
Promotional Products/ Giveaways. For the safety of participants and spectators, candy shall be handed out or passed out from the floats at a safe distance. Walkers must distribute giveaways/candies at least 5-10 feet from the float, away from parade vehicle. School Supplies and Fruits are recommended.
All applicable Navajo Nation Laws will be enforced. The Navajo Nation is not liable for any injuries resulting from accidents during participation in the parade. Law Enforcement and Security personnel will be on site at all times.
Entries must have: 5 lb. fire extinguisher onboard at all times that is current and up to date. Floats will be subject to inspection by the Navajo Nation Fire Department, Office of Environmental Health, and/ or the Navajo Nation Safety/ Loss Control Program to ensure compliance.
Entries must provide valid automobile insurance documents, valid driver license and applicable permit to ensure compliant vehicle.
All expenses incurred in a vehicle breakdown, before, during and after the parade are the Owner's responsibility.
Trailers must have appropriate safety chains and light hook-ups that are in proper working condition as required by the Motor Vehicle Code.
Animals are not allowed per the parade permit and Navajo Nation Police Department.
Participants under the age of 12 will need to ride on the floats and are not recommended to walk. Any participant under the age of 18 must have a signed release from Parent or Legal Guardian to participate.
1 entry is defined as 1 royalty, 1 politician, 1 band, 1 organization with 10 limited walkers. You may contact the parade coordinator for clarity.
Any participant sitting on the hood or rooftops of any vehicle shall be supplied with no-skid mat and safety rope to prevent slips and slid off while vehicle is in motion.

PARADE NUMBERS WILL BE PROVIDED ONLY AFTER ATTENDING AN ORIENTATION WITH THE PARADE COORDINATOR AND THE NNPD

Legal & Liability

By registering, all participants agree to release the Northern Navajo Fair Board, its staff, and the Navajo Nation from any and all liability for injuries or damages occurring during the parade. Participants are responsible for their own insurance coverage and the safety of their entry members.
